What is concrete?

Concrete slabs are a typical construction element used in building. It is a large, flat, horizontal concrete surface typically used for an area for flooring or as a roof. Concrete slabs are employed to construct the flooring in some homes. They can be placed directly on the soil or as support for the foundation.

Our Concrete Slab Installation Process

Concrete installation isn't for the faint of heart. Port St. Lucie Concrete Contractors employs strict construction of concrete slabs process that adheres strictly to local codes as well as industry standards.

Safety is our paramount concern in all of the concrete work we undertake. We make sure that we are equipped with the safety equipment needed before we begin any project. We use gloves, long sleeves with rubber boots, gloves and rubber to protect our eyes. They protect us from concrete splashes that could be harmful to our health and well-being.

Following the same process as before, we will follow these steps:

Step 1: Prepare on-site

We follow the exact process no matter what size concrete slab project we're working on. Preparing the site is the very first stage in all of our projects. We clean up all evidence of contamination so that we can begin fresh. As part the preparation process, all materials must be on-site. We arrange the transportation of the materials prior to the actual project. This lets us finish the work on time.

Step 2 Re-inforce concrete slabs using steel and build concrete forms

Once the site is clean and ready, we proceed by putting in concrete forms by using wire mesh. Concrete forms are solid barriers holding concrete mix in the right place. Concrete forms force concrete to adopt a certain shape or form. As for bigger structures, we utilize Rebar to strengthen concrete. This allows the concrete surface is more durable.

Step 3: Mixing Concrete Mix

To facilitate the process, we use a concrete truck. It also helps in ensuring concrete materials are mixed correctly. Sometimes, we do manual mixing. In the majority of projects, a concrete mixer is required.

Step 4: Pouring Concrete

Once done mixing concrete, we immediately put a concrete slab in the forms. It is crucial to do this carefully so that there are not too many air pockets while pouring concrete. Air pockets can be created by a lack of mortar being used in the spaces around the aggregate. Concrete is poured by making sure the mortar is evenly distributed throughout the shape.
